This beetle project started with the purchase of a 1967 1500cc beetle. The beetle was in a very bad condition and needed major surgery to be revived to a new state of youth.

It's essential to have a set of body hammers and dollies to straighten difficult corners etc. Be sure never to use these hammers on nails because they are to soft so you will damage the hammer. I don't think that you have to buy an expensive set of these hammers, these work fine to me.

The Impact Puller is used to pull dents back into shape. You have to weld a piece of metal onto the dented material. Next attach the impact puller. Now use the weight to force the dent back into shape.

Suffering from rusted bolts? Not enough power to remove the nuts? Buy an air impact wrench!! Ideal for removing every thing that is stuck. The downside is you can shear bolts in no time. I use the air impact wrench only for removing nuts and bolts. If you want to thighten bolts use something less powerfull.

The pneumatic body saw is ideal for cutting out hopeless parts of the body. Due to it's size you can use the saw to cut in narrow spaces. Be sure to buy one with enough power (you also need a compressor with a lot of air!). If you have to little power you won't be able to cut through the thicker sheet metal.

The angle grinder is a useful tool for fixing a restoration project. You can use the grinder for cutting metal, high-power sanding (be careful not to grind away to much metal), etc. etc.
I have tried different models from cheap to more expensive but my conclusion is they are all sufficient. The metal on the beetle is quite thin so you don't niet much power to cut through.
My best advice on angle grinders is: YOU CAN'T HAVE ENOUGH ANGLE GRINDERS!!!!! It's very time consuming to change disks, so with multiple grinders you can have one with a corse sandig disk, one with a cutting disk, etc.

If you've got a beetle like mine. A sand blaster is a great tool to remove rust from difficult places. Be sure to buy a compressor with enough capacity or else you can only sand blast very small pieces.
This sandblaster has a reservoir for the blasting material. The white bag is used for recovery of the used blasting material.
These two blasters make a bigger mess. The used material just falls on the ground.
